? and what we found in the debate was that mitt romney kind of walked away from a lot of the policies he had been talking about, so president obama i think didn't have the opportunity he should have had to compare their plans because every time he talked about what was in the romney plan, romney said oh, no, no, no, that's not in my plan when it of course had been for the last six months. next time we're going to have to go back at that a little bit. and the second point was that when we look at -- at america today, you know, we're not in a -- in a state -- yes, everybody's got the economy as their number one issue, but people don't live in that kind of binary world. when an immigrant family is worried about whether their children are going to be deported, they can't study as hard at school. when a woman -- when a mom is worried about, you know, paying for her reproductive health, you know, that adds an extra burden to her economic struggles. when a gay and lexan family doesn't have benefits or isn't recognized, you know, the workplace and where they choose to work becomes a much bigger stru

romney, debate and what debate? oh, right. wednesday. the first presidential debate. we got a rigorous macro economic lesson that day. but by the end of the week, the only number that mattered was 7.8. that's because the unemployment rate released yesterday is the lowest since 2009. the bureau of labor statistics announced fresh revisions for the summer jobs numbers. in fact, july and august saw a combined increase of 86,000 more jobs than were originally reported. and the household survey showed is an exceptionally strong month with 873,000 more employed americans last month than in july. president obama was back on the trail yesterday trying to temper his enthusiasm. >> today's news certainly is not an excuse to try to talk down the economy to score a few political points. it's a reminder that this country has come too far to turn back now. >> mr. romney, of course, saw it a little differently. >> the reason it's come down this year is primarily due to the fact that more and more people have just stopped looking for work. >> good try but actually this month, the rate fell because ame

that president obama and mitt romney are going to be debating. we have done she more debates left. at the end of the day, the person who comes out as the candidate most able to get america back on track in terms of jobs and getting people back to work, that candidate has the biggest advantage. on friday with the jobs number, present, we gained some of that advantage. i will not say the september numbers will be a game changer. but i do think we have some good news for the president. host: we are looking at the jobs figures that came out yesterday. we hear from the candidates who spoke yesterday. here is governor romney talking about the jobs numbers released. campaign. i think romney, if i was just to, you know, know one is asking for my advice. ly say that you see him coming toward the debate his campaign is coming toward the debate. and i think one of those challenges at the -- i'm going it talk about both campaigns. i want to keep it even-handed here. one of the challenges the romney campaign is going to have the criticism is that he's not connecting. right, you hear that a lot. he doesn't connect. what's wrong with mitt romney and actually, i don't know he seems like a nice enough guy. he was my governor for awhile and i thought hef competent in massachusetts. one things he hasn't done in connecting it's not like he not connecting with people. i know, that. the thing that is going on, he's not been able to say why his time at bain would make him ready for president and that's the connection that i think people are not seeing, and he can get warm and talk about roses on the mother's bedside table like at the convention. it's moving. until he starts connecting in that way, i think he's going continue to struggle on the front. i think the obama
